Don Campbell is an expert on the transformational powers of music. A classically trained musician, composer, scholar, and consultant to symphony orchestras, Don is known for his energetic, empowering, and often dazzling style of music teaching. He's traveled to over 40 countries, founded the Institute for Music, Health, and Education, and wrote the 1997 best-selling The Mozart Effect, translated into 28 languages. He is presently music director of Aesthetic Audio Systems, a company that provides acoustic design and music for healthcare facilities.
He has been part of the American Music Research Center at the University of Colorado since 1998 and will release his twenty-second book, Sound Spirit, in May, 2008. From the early 1980’s, Mr. Campbell has been lecturing and writing on the importance of auditory training. He was one of the first Americans who acknowledged the pioneering work of Dr. Alfred Tomatis. In his book, Introduction to the Musical Brain and Rhythms of Learning, he brought attention to integrated education through music, movement and multi-sensory patterning. His three books on the voice focus on tone and inner awareness. He has mentored over 500 students in the healthy aspects of tone for language and musical development. |
