The Value of Music and the Learning Brain

There are multiple elements within music that determine its effectiveness in learning, concentration and stress reduction. In this participatory workshop, we will explore rhythm, harmony, melody and orchestration for better understanding of what musical components are most engaging in the therapeutic, educational and creative process.

How music stimulates multiple areas of neural response is also determined by psychological and physical listening postures. Don Campbell will demonstrate some of the techniques used with his “Conscious Listening” series for symphony orchestra audiences. Through music, imagery and enhan-ced listening, we will learn to get more from the great music of the world.
